The 2016 Blue Gold Exhibition: “Harvesting the Mirage” at Etemad Gallery

April 22 – May 10, 2016 – The Blue Gold exhibition, held at Etemad Gallery in Tehran, brought together a diverse group of artists to explore one of the world’s most urgent issues: the global water crisis. Curated by Leila Varaste and Vida Zaim, the exhibition highlighted one of the most pressing issues of the modern world: the global water crisis. The title “Blue Gold” emphasised the value of water as an essential, yet increasingly scarce, resource.

Among the featured artists, Nasim Yazdani presented Harvesting the Mirage, an acrylic painting on canvas (150×100 cm), selected for the online exhibition section. The piece examined the concept of illusion in relation to scarcity, reflecting on how the appearance of abundance can mask the reality of depletion. Within the broader exhibition theme, the work underscored the fragile and finite nature of water.

The exhibition received coverage from various media outlets, PanArt Magazine, Honar Online, Avam Magazine and Gallery Online. Through this platform, artists engaged in a larger dialogue on environmental sustainability, using their work to raise awareness about water conservation.

Blue Gold served as a powerful reminder of art’s role in addressing global challenges, reinforcing the significance of creative expression in shaping critical conversations on environmental issues.
