My Work Featured in the Book ‘101 Contemporary Artists and More…’, Volume 7
My work has been featured in the 7th volume of the book ‘101 Contemporary Artists and More…’.
The concept of the book ‘101 Contemporary Artists and More…’ is built on the idea of showcasing diverse voices in contemporary art from all over the world. It’s a curated collection of artists who are actively shaping today’s visual landscape, and I feel incredibly honoured to be included among such a talented group.
The platform that Collect Art has built through this project offers artists a unique opportunity to share their work with a global audience and, more importantly, to tell the stories behind their creations. The book doesn’t just feature the art itself; it explores the conceptual and emotional layers that bring the works to life. That is what really drew me to this project.
For this edition, I had the privilege of sharing my latest collection, The Essence. This body of work has been a labour of love and introspection for me. It’s a series of acrylic paintings that focus on humanity’s interconnectedness, reflecting the complex web of emotions, identity, and shared experiences that bind us all together.
This collection, inspired by my poem ‘We are all light, we are all shadow, we are all colour, we are all rainbow,’ really captures the essence of what I am trying to convey as an artist. I used abstraction to peel back the layers of our collective identity, showing that beneath all our differences—race, culture, background, etc.—we are all connected at a fundamental level. The human face, which serves as a foundational element in many of these works, symbolises this universality.
Acrylics have always been my go-to medium for this type of expression. The way they allow me to layer textures and colours mimics the complexity of human emotion, giving depth to each piece. I feel that The Essence encapsulates what I have been striving to communicate through my art: the beauty of diversity and the oneness of our human experience.
Being featured in ‘101 Contemporary Artists and More…‘ is both humbling and exhilarating. This book is not just a showcase; it’s a platform that connects artists and viewers in a way that encourages introspection and challenges conventional thinking. I have always believed that art has the power to provoke thought and evoke emotions, and seeing my work presented in a publication like this reaffirms that belief.
It is also a wonderful feeling to know that my work is reaching a broader audience. In today’s globalised world, where art can be seen, shared, and appreciated across borders, being part of this publication feels like an invitation to join a larger conversation about the role of art in society.
I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited to see where it leads. If you are passionate about contemporary art, I highly recommend checking out the book. Not just for my work, but for the range of voices it amplifies. There is something deeply inspiring about seeing so many different perspectives come together in one place.
The book is available on the CoA website.
