General Statement

Artists have their own way of transforming the world around them. They possess the power to influence their audience and bring about change in people’s lives. Consciously or subconsciously, they leave their trace on everything they touch. Therefore, social responsibility is an inherent feature which characterises what they do and who they are. The themes I have dealt with throughout the course of my artistic quest are comprised of “art as a means of transformation” and “unity in diversity” in order to redefine the fundamental aspects of social and individual values. As a painter and illustrator, my strong desire is to be a force for good through positive messages inherent in my artwork.

Unity in diversity means appreciating unique traits that people possess while admiring shared qualities. To me, the whole creation resembles a piece of music in which various notes are harmonised to form a magnificent melody. It has always been my priority to resonate this undeniable reality in my art that people of Earth are the living testimony for unity and diversity just like complementary components of colours on a painter’s palette.

I usually work with acrylic paint although I teach a variety of technics including coloured pencil, dry pastel and watercolour. The majority of my work is portraiture, but I do not confine myself to a method of painting. My strength is when I combine various media and colour palettes to explore unity in diversity.

Artist’s Statement – The Essence

Our planet is in pain, and instead of healing its wounds, we are busy with setting unreal borders and defining illusional categories. My latest collection of acrylic paintings, The Essence, illustrates the core of humanity through the lens of abstraction, using the human face as its foundational element. Guided by one of my poems, ‘We are all light. We are all shadow. We are all colour. We are all rainbow’, this series transcends skin and flesh to explore the profound interconnectedness and oneness of the whole universe. Despite our apparent differences, we are all united in heart. It is time to embrace this truth and cease fighting over our distinctions.

Portraiture is at the heart of my artistic journey, whether realistic or abstract. My shift to abstraction in The Essence  collection is not a departure from my previous style but an expansion of my creative exploration, blending the familiar with the new, and celebrating unity in diversity on another level.

Artist Statement – Faces

I perceive life through the myriad of faces I encounter. In each expression, I seek the embodiment of unity in diversity. My paintings serve as a vessel for others to experience the emotions and visions that have stirred within me. Pure beauty transcends boundaries of nationality or constraint; it knows no borders. We are all inherently beautiful. My artistic expression fluctuates between realism and abstraction. Commencing from a point of realism, my creations gradually transcend into the realm of abstract art. This intentional fusion embodies my quest for unity in diversity, permeating every facet of my work.

Artist Statement – Symphony of Features

In Symphony of Features, I explore human identity, highlighting unity in diversity within the individual. Each portrait is a dual representation, showcasing the harmony and contrast in human faces. By dividing the face into two parts, I reveal the subtle nuances that make each person unique yet interconnected. Just as diverse cultures form a unified humanity, the varied features of our faces create a singular identity. This collection invites viewers to think about the complexity of human existence and the beauty in diversity. It underscores the connections between us, celebrating the interconnectedness of human experiences through art.
